My name is Joseph, but most people call me Coach Jojo. I immigrated from Central Africa (The Democratic Republic of Congo) in 2008. At age 15, I attended High School in Cottonwood Heights, and got bullied for being small. I'm not going to lie. I wasn't the tallest person in the room then or now. My fitness journey started in 2011 after a PE class. I became consistent in my workouts and I kept going. This process helped me gain so much confidence and step out of my shyness. I am still shy, but I knew I had some magic I wanted to share with the world.
In 2019 I decided to add strength training to my journey. I competed in my first bodybuilding show. The Fitcon competition in Men's Physic. In 2021, I took 1st place at Wasatch warrior in open class B. I competed and received many accolades for winning multiple first-place spots in the year 2022. You have got to trust the process of mind-body connection, and most of all, have patience with your journey. Fitness isn't just about the mechanics of movement but also the mental and emotional journey.
